  • Your tour guide

Hi! I'm Margaret, a solo traveler who enjoys meeting new people, eating great food, and having a laugh.

My home base is the unspoiled beauty of Connemara, on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, an area that abounds with natural beauty, seas rich with fresh fish and shellfish, shores for foraging, small scale farmers and growers, and cafes and restaurants with innovative chefs.

Farm to fork is not a slogan but the way I was raised on the family farm. Now I live on a small holding growing vegetables in the company of numerous rescue animals including the ever faithful rescue dog Willow.

Meeting people, breaking bread with new friends and listening to old and young with their stories of growing, cooking and foraging is what has made my solo travels all over the world exciting. These experiences have enriched my life and I want guests on these tours to experience similar in the beautiful West of Ireland.

  • Why small group tours work for solo travellers

Solo travel can be an enriching experience that allows individuals to explore new destinations, try new things, and grow personally. However, it can also be daunting, especially for those who are new to traveling alone. One solution to this is to join a small group tour with other solo travelers. Here are some benefits of this approach:

Safety in numbers: Traveling with a group provides safety and security, especially in unfamiliar territories. Solo travelers can feel more confident exploring new destinations with other like-minded individuals, which can enhance the overall travel experience.

Shared experiences: Traveling with others allows for shared experiences, which can create long-lasting friendships and memories. Small group tours offer opportunities to bond with others, exchange travel tips, and share stories.

Unique opportunities: Small group tours often offer unique opportunities that may not be available to solo travelers. For example, some tours may provide access to local experiences and activities that are not typically available to tourists.

Comfort and convenience: Traveling with a group can alleviate the stress of planning and navigating a trip alone. This can lead to a more relaxing and enjoyable travel experience.

Group tours are also a great way to start a longer trip. Enjoy the comfort and security of a group trip for five days and then take off on your own for a few days exploring Ireland. I can help with suggested routes and places to visit.
