    Experience farm to fork 

    Meet  the farmers, the fishers, the cheese makers, the growers, the bakers, the foragers and the innovative chefs. 

    Over five days and nights you will walk the farms, the fields, and the shores along The Wild Atlantic Way in Galway. You will find native Irish speakers committed to preserving our small scale farming culture and those that came for a holiday, fell in love and stayed.

     Hear the stories of our wonderful artisan food producers, dine in restaurants and cafes with chefs who take pride in using local produce and stay in family run hotels.

    In addition to great food and accommodation we will have lots of laughs, chats and craic.

    The tour includes all hotel accommodation in single rooms for five nights, all meals and tastings and transport from when you are picked up in Galway City.

    Hi! I'm Margaret, a solo traveler who enjoys meeting new people, eating great food, and having a laugh.

    My home base is the unspoiled beauty of Connemara, on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, an area that abounds with natural beauty, seas rich with fresh fish and shellfish, shores for foraging, small scale farmers and growers, and cafes and restaurants with innovative chefs.

    Farm to fork is not a slogan but the way I was raised on the family farm. Now I live on a small holding growing vegetables in the company of hens Henny & Penny, cats Marmalad & Oscar and the ever faithful rescue dog Willow.

    Meeting people, breaking bread with new friends and listening to old and young with their stories of growing, cooking and foraging is what has made my solo travels all over the world exciting. These experiences have enriched my life and I want guests on these tours to experience similar in the beautiful West of Ireland.

    Like many solo travelers I miss sharing a meal with others and this inspired me to set up Irish Artisan Food Tours so we can break bread together.

    Day 1 Sunday

    I look forward to meeting you in the early afternoon before we ennjoy a wonderful lunch. We will then travel to our home from home for the next three nights the super comfy Renvyle House Hotel located on a 150 acre estate with a private freshwater lake for fishing and boating, a beach, woodlands and outdoor heated pool. Dinner tonight will be in Clifden in the wonderful Sea Hare recently featured in National Geographic Traveller.

    Day 2 Monday

    Today we will visit an oyster farm, hear how they grow and care for the oysters and taste oysters staight from the shores.

    Following the tour we will enjoy a wonderful literary lunch at Books at One in Letterfrack.

    There will be opportunities to fish, walk or relax in the hot tub in the afternoon

    Tonight we dine in Rusheenduff enjoying a wide range of Irish food prepared creatively by head chef Tim O Sullivan


    Day 3 Tuesday

    This moring we travel to county Mayo to a gin distillsary on the shores of Lough Mask. PIck a few botanicals, add them to the mix, learn about the process and bring home a little bottle of your own gin!

    After lunch we will cruise along Ireland's only fjord with KIllary cruises.

    This evening we dine in Rusheenduff

    Day 4 Wednesday

    Saying goodbye to Renvyle House Hotel we travel south through Connemara and start the day with a coastal walk to learn about and taste edible seaweeds before a visit to the land based aqualture farm We will visit a small scale vegetable grower and enjoy lunch at Pota where Diarmund, a native Irish speaker takes pride in using local produce. Following check in at The Twelve Hotel we will dine in the award winning West restaurant

    Day 5 Thursday

    This morning we will travel to the rich, fertile grounds of the Slieve Aughty mountains to the home of Kylemore cheese. During our farm tour, we will meet the cows that produce the milk for the cheese, learn how cheese is made and enjoy a private cheese tasting and homemade lunch. This evening we dine in fabulous Ruibin with pre dinner drinks in the Galway City Distillary 

    Day 6 Friday

    After a delicious breakfast we will say Slán and travel back to Galway city.
