    Five-Day Tours for solo travellers

     

    Connemara

    Join me for five days exploring the beauty of Connemara and meet the local food producers who call it home. We will meet a vegetable grower making a living on an acre, enjoy mussels and oysters straight from the beds, go behind the scenes of Kylemore Abbey, forage for seaweed, learn about sustainable aquaculture, visit an abalone farm and so much more.

    We will dine in Pota, recently crowned Best Cafe in Ireland, enjoy an evening in Ballinahinch Castle, a literary supper in Books at One, and stop at great food trucks.

    The relaxing Renvyle House Hotel is our home from home, located on a 150-acre estate which boasts a private freshwater lake for fishing and boating, a beach, woodlands, gardens,outdoor heated swimming pool and hot tub.

    Mayo

    Over our five days we will enjoy honey from local bees, salt from the Atlantic, the freshest seafood, yummy dairy products and top quality meat produced on family farms. Join me in meeting producers and farmers dedicated to ethical and sustainable production which keeps family farms viable and communities alive. The history of rural Ireland will unfold in an innovative museum and we will visit Ireland's largest island and its holy mountain. A visit to a local craft brewer will quench our thirst after a morning shucking oysters. Have you ever tried sheep's yogurt or cheese? Not only will we try some, we will meet the sheep that produce the milk.

    We will stay in the wonderful Mulranny Park hotel overlooking the sea. A feature of the hotel is their development of the Gourmet Greenway which is a series of artisan food producers along the Great Western Greenway (a walking and cycling trail on the Wild Atlantic Way)

    2. One-Day Tours from Galway city

    Starting April 2024

    • A full day tour of Connemara 9am-6pm
    • Small group tour - max 15 peolpe
    • Leaving from Galway city with pick ups in Salthill and Barna.
    • Visit to a small scale organic vegeable grower
    • Enjoy a walk along the shore foraging for edibles
    • Meet a small scale food producer
    • Share a lunch of local food
    • Finish the day with a glass of local craft beer

     

    During the day you will enjoy views of Galway Bay and the Aran islands, learn about irish agriculture and the history of farming in Ireland. You will enjoy great food, meet peolpe committed to preserving our food culture and have a bit of craic!

    3. Bespoke One day tours are available seven days a week with a minimum of two weeks advance booking. They are designed specifically for your group following a consultation with you. I've had families celebrating big birthdays, work colleagues rewarded with a special tour, friends reunions and visiting diplomats. They are a very unique experience and are priced depending on the activities chosen which include visits to farms, distilleries, foraging walks, wonderful lunches, insight into small food production and always a few laughs.

    Details & Booking information

     

    All five-day tours start at Ceannt train station, Galway City, with pick up between 2-2.30pm on Sunday and finish at the station at 1pm on Friday.

    Please contact me if you have questions on transport to Galway or wish to extend your time in Galway with hotel suggestions.

    A 250 euro deposit secures a place and is fully refundable up to 8 weeks before the start of the tour. Full payment is due 8 weeks before the start of the tour. Deposits and full payments can be made via online payment system Stripe or by bank transfer.

    All guests will be asked if they have food allergies before the start of the tour. I will also advise on the dress code (it's Ireland, bring a rain jacket!) and outline the full itinerary prior to the start of the tour.

    The tours are designed for those with a reasonable level of fitness. Accessible rooms are available in all hotels by request.
